My influences during 2017 were many and varied. Pre-Renaissance Persian carpets, cut stone Persian windows, moths, glass flower seedpods, early Roman paintings, and lots more. Rather than separate or distinguish individual inspirations, I let them interact, layering experience and memory in veils building the surface of the paintings. This process helps me further develop my own fluency within a visual language as well as connect deeply to makers, visual artists and craftspeople throughout time.
