| The end of 2011 and most of 2012 brought with it several exhibits in very different spaces, which called for completely different bodies of work. Light and the Geometry of Flowers with its careful concentric circle, color, light was the beginning of this endeavor. By the time I had finished the two large circular grid paintings inspired by Hindu meditation images of the pulsation of the universe, I was done with painting so carefully. I began thinking about the Five Acts of Shiva in the creation and destruction of the world. This way of looking at the life cycle wanted to be more emphatically painted, revealing the hand in the making. Next came a family trip to Norway, travelling up the fjords into the Arctic Circle in mid June with endless light, water, beautiful landscape, and time outside of time. These paintings are built from layers of all of these experiences.
